A Sudden attack

Not an attack of the munchies, not an attach of baby hunger. Oh no. I had a sudden migraine attack! It turned out to be a basilar migraine. It started with a blind spot, as all my migraines do. So I tried to take it easy. I laid down and relaxed. Eventually when Lizzie was in bed I went to lay down. Edin came with me and he was of course I huge nuisance. That's when my hands started to tingle one finger at a time. It worked its way up my arm. Very strange. I decided to get up and take some medicine but I don't think it was soon enough. I texted James and let him know I needed him to come home. Yikes, I needed help.

My kids were wearing dirty clothes and dirty diapers and I felt embarrassed to call anyone to ask for help. I eventually got the kids dressed and changed and felt better about that and realized I just needed someone to take them for awhile. When my friend Amy showed up I'm sure I was a mess. She ran my kids over to another neighbor's and came back to pick me up. She gave me a piggy back ride out to a friend's car and down the street to the BYU student health center. Another piggy back ride got me inside and we started by telling them my name and birthday.

James showed up a few minutes later and by then I couldn't really talk. I could warble some sounds but what I wanted to say wouldn't come out! I had black spots in my thinking. I knew I had taken medicine but I couldn't SAY what time. I couldn't even bring to mind the time one o'clock. It was crazy! I wondered if I was having a stroke or something!

They gave me a couple of pills and a shot and laid there and rested for another 20 minutes. I got really cold so they loaded me up with a blanket and hot pad. Aahhh.

Anyhow, we got home, my neighbor Cary brought dinner and James took care of the kids. I slept for a long time and my head sure felt better. The doctor gave me a list of foods to avoid that could contribute to another migraine. Uh, no thanks! Things like pizza, sour cream, beans, high sodium foods, soy, and a bunch of other crazy foods are on the list. I'm not doing a very good job sticking to it but I try.

Needless to say I've spent some time recovering this week. I've been trying to take it easy but the kids still need me, ya know? I've been grateful for all the help James gives me. He does such a good job taking care and the kids and me. Love him.

Too bad I'm way out here--I would have totally helped! I have never heard of that before. Yikes. Take it easy!

I'm glad you had somebody close to help you get to the Health Center and that it got taken care of relatively quickly. I hope it doesn't happen again and that you feel better!
