Potty update

He did it. He pooped in the potty. He said he had to go potty and away we went. He sat there for a minute and nothing happened...until he tooted....and tooted and POOPED! Yay. It seemed to be two days worth so wahoo. We got it in the potty and I didn't have to clean it out of underwear. He hasn't had any accident today and seems to get better and better are recognizing before he goes that he has to go. He seems to be peeing less at night time, too. Yay! I feel like the luckiest mom in the world. Now if only he would stop hitting Lizzie...

My big boy is growing

Edin is potty training! Thursday night I thought I'd save a diaper by asking him to wearing underwear. He asked for M&M's so I told him he had to potty to get M&M's. "Okay." So he sat on the potty and went!! Whoa, that was awesome! Just before bed I asked him to go again and again he peed and got M&M's. I slapped a diaper on him and the next morning we kept it up. Friday he had two pee's and a poo accident. I'm pretty sure this pooping bit is going to continue to be ugly.

Today was the second and a half day and he's doing a great job. I ask him every hour to sit and he only fought me once. He doesn't seem very interested in the M&M's or marshmallows. He seems willing to do it just to go. He even went in a public potty. I was surprised. James said he was scared but did it. Right on, Kid!

He started to go number toosies in his little underwears and he freaked out and ran to the bathroom. Unfortunately he got scared and wouldn't finish. We waited all day for him to soil another pair of underwear but he never finished going! When he got in bed he said his tummy hurt. Then he tooted and said he felt better! This kid is a hoot. I figure he'll finish sometime in the night and that's okay with me. It's much easier to clean up a diaper mess than underwear!

I was surprised Edin just started going on the potty. I think trying it a couple of months ago helped prepare him. He wasn't ready then but when he was he knew what to do. He's definitely progressing. He's getting better at realizing when he has to go. So far he pees a little and then rushes to the bathroom to finish. I've never been a huge fan of pull-ups because I thought it would confuse children. "It's not a diaper...but you can pee in it?" Maybe they don't think they can. But today he wore one and I really liked knowing that if he didn't make it to the potty it wouldn't be so hard to clean up.

After we put him in a diaper to go to bed he was talking to James and then suddenly said "Edin has to potty!!" and ran for it. I thought for sure he'd just go in his diaper like "Ah, now I can relax and just go." I mean, maybe I'd think about doing it...

Tomorrow will be another day. I think he'll keep getting better. I'm going to bring his potty booster to church just in case he wants to go for it. This little man surprises me all the time. I love him so much. I'm so proud of him!

A Sudden attack

Not an attack of the munchies, not an attach of baby hunger. Oh no. I had a sudden migraine attack! It turned out to be a basilar migraine. It started with a blind spot, as all my migraines do. So I tried to take it easy. I laid down and relaxed. Eventually when Lizzie was in bed I went to lay down. Edin came with me and he was of course I huge nuisance. That's when my hands started to tingle one finger at a time. It worked its way up my arm. Very strange. I decided to get up and take some medicine but I don't think it was soon enough. I texted James and let him know I needed him to come home. Yikes, I needed help.

My kids were wearing dirty clothes and dirty diapers and I felt embarrassed to call anyone to ask for help. I eventually got the kids dressed and changed and felt better about that and realized I just needed someone to take them for awhile. When my friend Amy showed up I'm sure I was a mess. She ran my kids over to another neighbor's and came back to pick me up. She gave me a piggy back ride out to a friend's car and down the street to the BYU student health center. Another piggy back ride got me inside and we started by telling them my name and birthday.

James showed up a few minutes later and by then I couldn't really talk. I could warble some sounds but what I wanted to say wouldn't come out! I had black spots in my thinking. I knew I had taken medicine but I couldn't SAY what time. I couldn't even bring to mind the time one o'clock. It was crazy! I wondered if I was having a stroke or something!

They gave me a couple of pills and a shot and laid there and rested for another 20 minutes. I got really cold so they loaded me up with a blanket and hot pad. Aahhh.

Anyhow, we got home, my neighbor Cary brought dinner and James took care of the kids. I slept for a long time and my head sure felt better. The doctor gave me a list of foods to avoid that could contribute to another migraine. Uh, no thanks! Things like pizza, sour cream, beans, high sodium foods, soy, and a bunch of other crazy foods are on the list. I'm not doing a very good job sticking to it but I try.

Needless to say I've spent some time recovering this week. I've been trying to take it easy but the kids still need me, ya know? I've been grateful for all the help James gives me. He does such a good job taking care and the kids and me. Love him.

Trying

Instead of yelling at my child today, I gave him a kiss. I hope someday he realizes how hard it is to be a mom (parent).

"I sound it"

Which is Edin speak for "I Found it!" I've been missing a couple of library books and I've looked EVERYWHERE!!! Even places I KNEW they couldn't be. What the heck? Where are these books? I called the library and asked how much it would be to replace them. They are just little kid board books so only like $7 a book. Plus a $5 fee for each book to "restock them." I'm guess to add the electronic device inside and labeling the book and putting it in the system. Basically it would be $25 to replace two books!! Bah! I emailed all my relitives to have them look around their house. "I know I haven't been to your house but check anyway."

Today Edin came up to me and asked for help. "Okay Edin, just a minute." "Momma, help me!" All right fine. It turns out our book drawer has a secret compartment where over 12 books were hiding. When you open the drawer, there's a gap between the drawer and the bottom of the entertainment center. Well lo and behold (who says that?) there were the library books. What a sigh of relief!! I'm so glad I listened to my son's plea for help. Heavenly Father sure is merciful with all of my short comings.

Seemingly innocent gap.

Actually a book eater!!
